My latest conquest

I love a good deal, who doesn't right? I have a little bit of an obsession with cute things, but I don't exactly have the income to support my addiction. So when I find something fabulous for a fabulous price it is that much more fabulous.

I went to Target yesterday to get a workout shirt for the husband. Granted I could have walked straight to the men's department got aforementioned shirt and proceeded to the check out, but I was in Target, and it was slow at work, and I was Target. I HAD to look around, ya know, just to look.

I wandered through the home section, glancing at the art (the bathroom could still really use a piece of art on the walls). The end of the row caught my eye, it was all clearance merchandise. Now, I know I mentioned I love a great deal, but I hate digging for it. I am not a Marshall's or Big Lots kind of girl. It was all table ware, mostly table runners, and for some reason I actually started digging through the pile. (Okay so it was stack of maybe four or five) I found this fabulous (yes, I like that word alot) tablecloth. Not exactly sure when I will use it. Yes, it will fit my dining room table, but my table is pretty and I don't really like covering the whole thing up. But, if I ever decide to, this will match the room perfectly! I really love the pattern, its just enough without being overwhelming, and the orange is the perfect orange. The best part, it was only $6. I dare you to not purchase a PERFECT $6 tablecloth!

Ghost Stories

This is one of the funniest quotes I have heard (uh, read) in a long time...

"I don't think aliens or ghosts like black people. We never get abducted; our houses never get haunted. It always happens in rural areas, where no ethnic people live. The day I see somebody from South Central Los Angeles say, 'Man, I got abducted yesterday,' then I'll believe it." – Rapper Xzibit, who is starring in the upcoming movie The X-Files: I Want to Believe

Thanks Xzibit you're my favorite person today.

Ready or not here I come!

The countdown has officially started.

(Well, okay, really it start the second we booked the plane tickets.)
There are 18 days between today and the day my overly excited butt will be on a plane to Hawaii! I'm not sure if its even real to me yet that we're actually going, its still somewhere in that we're dreaming realm of my brain. I'm starting to come to terms that I have less than three weeks to get my crap together to go on probably one the biggest vacations I will EVER go on. (I know for lots of people this kind of trip is annual or heck, a semi-annual thing, but not so much in the Beckett house)

I have been trying to think of all the things I need to do before we go to make sure my ducks are all in row. So here I have compiled my to do list, to be completed on or before July 7.
  1. Get new swimsuit(s) (C'mon its Hawaii, and Hawaii deserves a cute new suit) Check!
  2. Download pictures off digital camera to have maximum space for picture taking craziness. Check!
  3. Actually delete downloaded picture from camera
  4. Borrow mom's fabulous SLR camera (to add quality to the picture taking craziness).
  5. Get some new cute shirts. Check!
  6. Get new cute dress to wear to luau. Check!
  7. Get a hair cut.
  8. Pack. (That's the worst one, and its actually stressing me out a little bit. I'm really afraid that what I think I need will not be what I actually need when we get there, and I will have none of the clothing that I really want once I'm there. [This pleasantry of mine generally leads to gross over-packing.])
  9. Get a tan. (A lot harder than it sounds)
Seems easy enough to tackle. Who cares if its not, I'm going to Hawaii!!!!
(Oh, yeah, thats the view from the place we're staying on The Big Island!)

We need to pretty this place up a bit!

I had a little fun taking some pictures of our back yard. I was mostly just playing around, but I think some of them are actually really pretty. Plus this page needed some color!
